Right now, I’m trying to find cheap versions of the textbooks for my classes online, which has been kind of a struggle. For my first semester, I just ordered all of the books from my college’s bookstore and picked them up during registration. I anticipated being able to get back a large fraction of the cost of the books during buyback, but it ended up actually being $31. This semester, I have four classes that require me to get textbooks, and if I bought them all from the school, it would come to a grand total of $714.50, which is way way too much money. I mean, I barely have enough money to support my already devastating and worrying book buying habit, without having to spend over $700 on a bunch of books that I probably won’t read that much.
I’ve combed the two Half Price Books in my areas, and managed to snag a $10 copy of a $200 book, which was awesome, as well as some of the novels I have to read for my class about the Middle Ages. But unfortunately, those are the only used bookstores in my area, and so I’m either going to have to wait till I get back to campus in a couple of weeks to comb the stores there, or get them off the internet. I just really don’t want to spend any more money. I cannot tell you how adverse I am to spending more money on textbooks.
Hey! Maybe the library has some copies! If there are, I guess I’m probably going to have to move pretty fast to get the copy or two they have. Thank God the school doesn’t have overdue fees, or I’d be in serious trouble.
For all you college people out there, where do you get your textbooks? Do you just get them from the school bookstore, inherit them from older siblings, dumpster dive? Tell me about, because I’m running out of options.
